Just one day after completing their second year at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Anne Li Baldock, 24, and Madison Elizabeth Cornwell, 23, were killed in a horrific collision on May 16, 2015, when a suspected drunk driver slammed into their car head on.
Although all were wearing their seatbelts, Baldock and Cornwell were killed and three other medical students injured, when their 2014 Toyota Prius was hit head on by a 2000 Ford F-350 driven by 21-year-old marine Jason Riley King at approximately 1:30 a.m. on SR-163. According to the California Highway Patrol, King was driving his white pickup truck and flashing his hazard lights while driving the wrong way on the freeway just prior to the collision.
King, who also suffered injuries in the collision, is facing charges of DUI and vehicular manslaughter and will be arraigned from his hospital bed today, May 20, 2015.
