An early morning accident in Rockford, Illinois claimed the life of one local man.

Shortly after 3:30 am Monday in the 2200 block of South Pierpont Avenue, near Maxine Lane, 41 year old George Thomas veered off the road, crashing into a utility pole. Thomas was ejected completely from the vehicle and police pronounced him dead at the scene. No other cars were involved.

It’s not initially clear what the cause of the accident was.
