The accident took place in the early hours of Saturday. The authorities were alerted about the crash at around 4 a.m. According to the witnesses, Wilks was operating her vehicle recklessly just before the crash. The vehicle ultimately ran off the road and rolled over several times before coming to a halt.

Wilks was driving in the northbound lane of the U.S. 131 when the tragic accident took place just north of the Six Mile Road. The vehicle was a Chevy Cruze and Wilks was the only person present in the vehicle at the time. No other persons or vehicles were involved in the crash.
