District 12 of Illinois State Police, on Tuesday, February 18th, revealed the identity of the man injured in the two-vehicle crash at Marion County. He is Bryan Terry, 62, of Sandoval, Illinois.
Terry is undergoing treatment at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, Illinois. He was taken from the scene of the accident to the hospital by Sandoval Fire Department, one of the first responders.
Terry was involved in a car crash on US 51, two miles north of Sandoval, Marion County. He was driving a white Mail Route Delivery truck, heading north on Route 51, just north of Boone Street 2.
The injured man stopped to make a left turn in a private drive. He was waiting for the southbound traffic to pass when a black 2007 Ford Focus driven by Conrad Wynn, 39, of Vernon, hit him from behind.
Wynn had failed to stop, and the impact of the collision with Terry sent his truck off the road and into a ditch. The Ford turned and rested on its left shoulder.
First responders got the injured man out of the ditch, and he sustained severe trauma. The man who caused the accident and his passenger, Ramona Forbes, of Vernon, sustained minor injuries.
The ISP is in charge of the investigation into the crash. Wynn got cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and will answer to the charge in court.
Under Illinois law, the above charge is a petty offense and is punishable with a fine of $1000. If a person is found guilty of it, it would appear on his or her driving record, but will not lead to driver’s license suspension.
