A driver is dead following a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Glendale. She has been identified as 34-year-old mother of three Felicia Ann Hernandez.
According to Glendale police, the accident occurred Sunday morning just after 2 a.m. near 75th and Glendale avenues. Glendale police reported a vehicle, that was traveling eastbound struck the center median, left the roadway, first striking a residential block wall and then a pole.
Police say Hernandez was driving with one passenger in the vehicle. Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene, and the passenger, another 34-year-old woman, was transported to a local hospital. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the collision is currently under investigation. All areas of distracted driving will be investigated. Police reported that at this time it is unknown whether speed or impairment were factors in the crash.
Glendale Avenue was closed from 75th to 83rd avenues while police investigated.
According to a GoFundMe account, Hernandez just celebrated her 34th birthday on February 18 and leaves behind three sons and other family members. In addition to funeral expenses, the account is raising funds to offset the family’s cost of moving.
“When it came to her boys, she was as selfless as a mother could be,” the account said.
