A motorcycle rider lost his life in an accident with a car in Tempe, 5 miles from Mesa, Arizona. The police on Tuesday, March 3rd, identified him as Michael Trousdale.
The accident that claimed Trousdale’s life occurred on the afternoon of Monday, March 2nd and the authorities have ruled it as a hit-and-run. The deceased’s motorcyclist was driving eastbound on U.S. 60 near McClintock Drive a little before 4 p.m. during rush hour.
According to witnesses at the scene, a white car might have hit Trousdale’s motorcycle at the time it crashed. The said car, which the authorities have no information about, is possibly dented at the back, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Witnesses also said that the driver of the car pulled over slightly before fleeing the scene. The DSP has asked anyone with helpful and vital information to call the DSP Duty Office on their listed line.
When an accident happens in Arizona, those involved are expected to stop, and failure to do so constitutes fleeing the scene of an accident. The law provides that those in an accident should provide their name, address, and registration.
The person’s driving license should be shown to the authorities at the scene, and if anyone is injured, stay, and help with the injuries. Failure to provide the information comes with a class 3 misdemeanor charge, $500 fine, and 30 days in jail.
When a driver is not able to stop at the time of the accident, the person should return to the scene as soon as practicable. The person should then perform the above-listed functions.
