Two people were arrested on Wednesday after a traffic stop led to a car chase and ended with a wreck.
Alisha Lowe, 35, and Johnathan Segeada, 26, were apprehended after they fled from law enforcement officers in Jasper County.
Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety made the arrest, with help from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said that a DPS Trooper on routine patrol in Kirbyville saw a Mazda passenger car traveling south on US96 while missing a front license plate. This happened around 5:30 p.m.
The officer activated his emergency lights to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued south into Buna and turned onto State Highway 62.
The driver, later identified as Lowe, fled all the way into Orange County and tried to pull into the parking lot of a convenience store on the highway near Interstate 10.
However, Lowe lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a metal pole. She was taken into custody immediately and booked into Orange County Jail without further issues.
The Kountze resident was charged with felony-level evading arrest.
Meanwhile, her front passenger, Segeada was taken into custody in connection with an outstanding warrant from Hardin County. He is accused of a felony.
He complained of injuries and was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.
There was another passenger in the vehicle and that person was released without charges being brought against them. They also had to be treated for injuries.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
