The man who was killed in a motorcycle crash in Vallejo, California, has been identified by the Solano County Coroner’s Office. The coroner on Monday, March 9th, released his name as John Heady, 67, of Vallejo.
An autopsy performed by the coroner listed Heady’s cause of death as an accident resulting from the injuries sustained in the crash. There is no toxicology report at this time, and the coroner did not state if there’ll be one.
The fatal crash that sent Heady to the afterlife occurred on Tuesday, February 25th at about 2:45 p.m. A police report at the time showed that the deceased was riding a Honda motorcycle east of the 1600-block of Solano Avenue.
He was hit when the driver of a 2009 Honda Fit, identified as a 44-year-old female from Vallejo, ran a stop sign. She drove straight into the road Heady was traveling on and collided with him.
The deceased had leg injuries, and the first responders at the scene took him to the hospital for treatment. Heady spent about four days in the hospital, but later took a turn for the worse, before succumbing to his injuries on Saturday, February 29th.
There is no information on why the Honda driver drove past the stop sign, and the police have not stated if she will get charged at the time of this report. Vehicle-versus-motorcycle crashes often lead to the death of the motorcyclist.
Statistics have shown that about 75% of all motorcycle accidents involve a collision with a car. Also, motorcyclists are killed 26 times more than car riders on a per-mile basis; 80% of that number ends in death or injury.
