Aidan Lee Young Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash

A teenager was involved in a single-vehicle crash that took place on Thursday, March 12. According to the Illinois State Police, the teen has been identified as Aidan Lee Young, 18, of Vernon.

ISP has shared only a few details and facts surrounding the incident. As per these facts, the incident involved only Young and his vehicle – no other individuals or vehicles were involved. Young was driving a Black 1999 Ford Taurus when the crash happened.

According to the preliminary investigations conducted by ISP, Young was traveling westbound on the road at the time. Just as he was quarter of a mile from CR 475 East, Young seems to have lost control of the vehicle. The Taurus veered left, abandoning the roadway. It then collided with the concrete bridge guardrail at the side.

The incident took place in the evening at around 7 p.m. Young sustained injuries and was transported by the Rural Med EMS to the Fayette County Hospital. The extent or severity of his injuries is not known at this time. It also remains unclear whether or not he has been discharged from the hospital.

According to the ISP investigations so far, Young was guilty of negligence which caused the incident. Based on these findings, Young has been charged with driving without insurance and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash. It is likely that Young will only receive a citation for the incident. Speeding and alcohol did not appear likely factors that contributed to the accident.
