Authorities: Kadi Touchon Fatally Struck By Vehicle Near Lubbock

Authorities have identified the pedestrian who was fatally struck by a vehicle while walking along an interstate near Lubbock on Sunday morning

Kadi L. Touchon, 39, of Lubbock, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred just before 7 a.m. Sunday on U.S. 84 near FM 1585, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported later that evening. No injuries were reported in connection to the incident.

Troopers said Touchon was walking on U.S. 84 in the westbound lanes when she was struck by a vehicle. Emergency personnel were called to the scene, but Touchon was pronounced dead from her injuries before she could be transported to a hospital.

Authorities identified the driver of the vehicle that struck Touchon as Nathaniel J. Sanchez, 22, of Slaton. Sanchez was not injured, and no citations or charges were announced, by the state agency.  

Details about the crash, including the reason why Touchon was walking near the interstate, weren’t immediately released. Authorities also did not reveal whether other factors might have contributed to the crash. The road conditions were described in a release as cloudy and dry.

The Texas Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the incident.
