Shannon Ohara and Three Others Injured in DUI Crash


A woman was charged with driving under the influence after she caused a crash that injured four. The woman herself, a fellow passenger and two Chicago police officers were among the injured parties in the crash. The woman was identified by the police as Shannon Ohara, 32.

According to the details shared by the Chicago Police Department, the incident took place on Tuesday, March 24. It occurred in the early morning hours at around 4:20 a.m. Ohara was driving a Chevrolet Equinox at the time. While riding the vehicle through the 3400 block of West Belmond Avenue, Ohara hit a marked CPD vehicle. The CPD vehicle was taking a turn onto the Belmont Avenue from the northbound lanes of the Kimball Avenue.

Ohara also had a passenger in her vehicle at the time of crash. The CPD vehicle contained two CPD officers. The male passenger present in Ohara’s vehicle was not identified by the police, although the police revealed that he was 41-year-old. The identities of both CPD officers involved in the crash are also not known at this time.

All the four individuals involved in the crash sustained injuries, although the injuries of none of the parties was reported as critical. Ohara and her passenger were transported to the Swedish Covenant Hospital for treatment. The two police officers also received medical treatment at a local hospital and were reported in stable condition.

Following the crash, it was determined that Ohara was speeding and driving under the influence when the accident happened. She was charged with DUI.
