A man who died in Antioch, Illinois following a car crash was deemed to have died a ‘natural death’ following investigation by the authorities and as per preliminary accident reports. The crash took place on Tuesday, March 31.

According to the details shared by the authorities, the man was driving an SUV when the incident occurred. While driving down the 1000 Block of West Route 173, the driver of the SUV apparently lost control of the vehicle. The SUV then veered off the roadway and crashed into a guardrail.

The incident took place on Tuesday night and the authorities were notified about it around 10:00 p.m. Antioch Fire Department and the Antioch Police Department responded. When help and rescue personnel arrived on the scene of the car crash, they found the driver unresponsive. He was still inside the SUV, identified as a Chevy Trailblazer.

The first responders attempted life-saving medical measures on the driver. He was then transported to the Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. However, he couldn’t recover and was pronounced dead at the medical facility at around 12:45 a.m.

Authorities identified the deceased as Gregory C. Pena, 58, of Harvard. Preliminary investigations into the incident revealed that the Pena had suffered a medical emergency just prior to the crash. The medical emergency caused Pena to lose control of the vehicle, leading it to collision.
