10-Year-Old From Fremont Dies in Truck Accident


A young boy died in a truck accident that took place in Newaygo County on April 3, Friday. The incident took place in the evening and the authorities were notified about it around 7:30 p.m. as per the accident reports.

According to the details shared by the authorities, the pedestrian-truck accident occurred closet to the West 104th Street on the South Green Avenue in Bridgeton Township, Michigan. A pickup truck driver was grading a driveway when a 10-year-old boy came into its path. The truck ran over the boy, causing him critical injuries.

As first responders arrived on the site of the incident, arrangements were made to provide emergency medical treatment to the critically injured boy. The boy was airlifted to the Helen Devos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. However, he couldn’t recover despite the medical treatment and succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The pickup driver sustained no injuries in the crash. Authorities continue to investigate the incident. The investigations are led by Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office. Preliminary findings reveal that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs when the incident occurred. The driver’s name has not been released by the Sheriff’s Office although he is identified as a 20-year-old male from Fremont. It will be clearer whether or not any formal charges will be brought against the driver once the investigations conclude.

The identity of the young boy who lost his life in the tragic incident also remains unknown at this time. Authorities are expected to release the identification details in subsequent accident reports once the family has been notified.
