Alexander Coloni Dies After Crashing into 18-Wheeler in Odessa

A fatal collision which took place over the weekend in the South Odessa area of Texas left at least one motorist injured. The tragic incident took place on the morning of Saturday, April 24, as stated in the accident reports.

Officers of the Odessa Police Department, as well as the Odessa Fire Rescue team, were dispatched to a location on IH-20 and Grant following reports of a two-vehicle crash.

Upon investigation, it was gathered that a Dodge Ram, driven by the fatal victim, was westbound on West IH-20, moving through the 100 block at about 2 am.

At the same time, an 18-wheeler, whose driver was identified as Daniel Farias, 47, of El Paso, was traveling eastbound on the same route.

The reports asserted that the Dodge was traveling on the wrong side of the road, without activating its headlights, directly on the path of the eastbound 18-wheeler.

As a result, it slammed head-on into the oncoming vehicle, resulting in severe damages. The operator of the Dodge was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.

The name of the deceased was later released as Alexander Coloni, a 22-year-old resident of Odessa, after notifying his family of the encounter.

The accident reports did not disclose whether drugs and alcohol were believed to have caused the fatal crash. No other casualty was reported in the collision.

Officers discovered that the Dodge Ram had been reported stolen earlier in Ector County.

Police are still investigating the mishap to determine what caused Coloni to keep to the wrong way, or crash into the trailer.
