Lucino LandaVerde

The man who died last week after a vehicle he was driving was struck by a truck in Southeast Austin, Texas, has been identified. The Austin Police Department, on Wednesday, April 29, disclosed the victim’s name as 49-year-old Lucino LandaVerde. Based on the case’s progress, a car accident lawyer may be called upon to represent the deceased’s family.

The deadly crash played out on Monday, April 20, at about 3:43 pm. Police said the two vehicles collided near the East Ben White Boulevard service road and Todd Lane.

Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the vehicles was a white 2019 flatbed truck moving southbound on Todd Lane, approaching the Ben White Boulevard eastbound service road.

When the truck approached the service road, it jumped the stop signal on the traffic light mounted on the roadway, causing it to crash into a 2011 Ford F-150, which had the right of way at the time.

The driver’s side of the vehicle took the full impact of the crash, leaving its operator fatally injured. Responding paramedics pronounced Lucino LandaVerde dead at the scene.

The motorist who jumped the traffic light waited at the scene until police arrived. The reports confirmed that no arrest has been made regarding the crash to date, nor have any charges been filed against the flatbed truck driver.

An investigation into the incident is underway. Police have asked anyone with helpful information that could help solve the case to contact the APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives.

Victims of car accidents or their families thereof are urged to contact a car accident lawyer who could assess the case and review the available evidence.
