Accident reports out of Michigan say a 43-year-old woman from Holland Township died in an accident on Wednesday night.
She has been identified as Lasondra Leffler, a passenger in the sole vehicle involved.
The crash took place on 8th Street at Dartmouth Avenue around 8:20 p.m.
Accident investigators said a Dodge Nitro coasted off the road into a curb then struck a utility pole and pulled down power lines.
The vehicle then rolled on its side and came to rest against a large tree.
Three people were trapped inside the vehicle. Emergency personnel extracted them and administered aid. However, the Holland Department of Public Safety said the downed power line slowed them down.
The driver was an unnamed 66-year-old Holland woman. She was transported via Aero Med to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Leffler was the front seat passenger and she was declared dead at the scene.
Police said the backseat passenger, a 64-year-old man from Holland was taken to Holland Hospital. His name was not released.
Eyewitnesses reported that there were no other vehicles on the road at the time.
Investigators are of the view that speeding was a factor in the accident.
However, the authorities are still looking into the possibility that other factors affected the driver, accident reports say.
Depending on the circumstances, Leffler’s family may be able to file a wrongful death claim.
