A motorcyclist was killed in Las Vegas, Nevada on Thursday night and the driver believed to be at fault has been arrested.

According to accident reports, the victim is 62-year-old Kevin Maloney, a resident of the city. The Clark County Coroner’s Office said details of the cause and manner of death were pending.

The crash occurred on Lake Mead Boulevard at the Clark County mile marker 3, according to Nevada Highway Patrol officials.

Witnesses reported that a Nissan Altima had pulled over on the right shoulder and it was facing east. Meanwhile, a Harley Davidson was heading east on Lake Mead when the driver of the Nissan made a U-turn to go west.

That driver, later named as 27-year-old Luis Osorio, reportedly pulled out in front of the motorcycle as he made this maneuver.

The motorbike struck the left front section of the car and Maloney was thrown off. He was later declared dead at the scene, accident reports indicate.

Maloney is survived by his wife and three children. Family members said he was affectionately known as “Motorcycle Man.”

Survivors may be able to claim compensation.

Meanwhile, Osorio was arrested on suspicion of DUI resulting in death. He is also accused of making an illegal U-turn. He is being held at the Clark County Detention Center on a $150,000 bond.

A DUI resulting in death is a felony in Nevada. It is punishable by between two and 20 years in prison and a fine of between $2,000 and $5,000. There is no possibility of probation.
