The deceased is 39-year-old Seth Dees, according to accident reports.
Police said two motorcycles were traveling west on the 1300 block of I-40. Both had passengers riding on the back.
One of the vehicles involved in the accident was a 2006 Harley Davidson ridden by a 29-year-old man. He was carrying a 44-year-old female passenger.
Dees was riding a 2005 Harley Davidson and he was accompanied by a 42-year-old woman.
Dees reportedly rear-ended the other motorcycle and caused both bikes to crash.
Meanwhile, a 42-year-old man driving a Chevrolet truck could not stop in time and the truck ran over Dees and his passenger.
Dees died on the spot as a result of his injuries and the other three people who were on the motorcycles had to be hospitalized. Dees’ passenger suffered life-threatening injuries while the driver and passenger of the other motorcycle received minor injuries.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
The Amarillo Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Unit is looking into the crash and they could release updated accident reports.
Depending on what the experts determine caused the crash, Dees’ family may have grounds to file a wrongful death claim.
This would enable his survivors to get compensation for their laws.
The other injured people may also be able to recover damages with help from an attorney.
