William Crite Charged with DUI After Fatal North Las Vegas Accident

The North Las Vegas Police Department on Thursday, July 2nd, charged William Crite, 20, for offenses arising from a DUI crash in North Las Vegas, Nevada, in May. The police believe that the man was going nearly 100 miles per hour when he crashed his car and killed his passenger.

Crite is facing charges of driving under the influence resulting in death, two counts of reckless driving resulting in death or substantial bodily harm, and driving without a license and failure to wear a seatbelt. The crash happened on Wednesday, May 13th.

Facts from the car accident report showed that the incident took place at about 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of East Azure Avenue and Statz Street. The vehicle driven by Crite was speeding when it collided with another car at the intersection, sending both cars more than 100 feet away. The suspect and his passenger were not wearing seatbelts, and the impact ejected the latter.

The police discovered that the man did not have a valid driver’s license, and he had a high level of marijuana in his blood. They used witness statements, surveillance video from a nearby house, crash reconstruction, and the data retrieval module in Crite’s car to investigate the crash.

The suspect is in the Clark County Detention Center without bail pending a hearing on Wednesday, July 15th, in North Las Vegas Justice Court, and he would need a drunk driving attorney. There is currently no additional information at this time.
