Authorities said an Indiana man suffered serious injuries this weekend in a motorcycle wreck in Richland County.
Forty-six-year-old Kevin Noble, a resident of French Lick, Ind., was wounded in the crash, which occurred just after noon Saturday on Illinois 30, according to the Illinois State Police. No other vehicles were involved and no additional injuries were listed on car accident reports available Monday.
Troopers said Noble was driving a motorcycle northbound on Illinois 130 a few miles outside of Olney at 12:20 p.m. Saturday when he attempted to pass another northbound vehicle. Car accident reports state that he lost control of his motorcycle as he attempted to move back into his lane.
Noble struck a concrete bridge wall and veered off the roadway into an embankment, according to authorities. The force of the crash flung Noble from the motorcycle, car accident reports state.
Emergency medical personnel said Noble was transported via air ambulance to a hospital in Indiana for treatment of serious injuries. An updated condition reported wasn’t available Monday evening.
The incident remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police. Authorities have not said whether they suspect the involvement of contributing factors, including use of intoxicants, inattentive driving or excessive speed.
Authorities have not announced any charges or citations in connection to the incident.
