Daniel Eddy, Two Others Injured in Ogle County Crash


Three individuals sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle crash that took place in the Ogle County. The incident occurred on the Illinois 2 on Tuesday, July 7 as per the accident reports.

According to the details shared by the authorities, the incident occurred when one of the drivers lost control of the vehicle. The said driver was identified as Daniel W. Eddy, 31, of Rockford. He was driving a 2016 Chrysler 200 at the time of the incident.

Headed southbound on the road, Eddy’s vehicle crossed the center line and came into the path of the northbound traffic. It was then that his Chrysler collided head-on with a Subaru Forester. After colliding with the Forester, the impact of the collision caused Eddy’s Chrysler to collide with another vehicle, identified as a Chevrolet Silverado.

The driver of the Forester was identified by the authorities as Rae Shorter, 48, of Rockford. Silverado driver was identified as Jimmy F. Boyce, 42, of Winnebago.

Eddy and Shorter sustained serious injuries in the crash. Boyce incurred relatively lighter injuries in the collision. The incident occurred at around 12:45 p.m. just north of the River Drive. The three injured persons were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident. Preliminary investigations and accident reports show that the negligence of Daniel W. Eddy probably caused the incident. Eddy has admitted to the police that he was using his cellphone at the time which may have led him to become distracted. Police have charged Eddy with improper lane use, driving an uninsured vehicle and driving with a revoked license.
