On Thursday, July 16th, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified 23-year-old Alexander Joseph Tucker as the fatal victim of a car accident in Midlothian, Illinois. The ME said that the man who resided in the 5000-block of Golf Court died from multiple injuries sustained in the crash.
The car accident report showed that the incident took place near 147th Street on the 14300-block of Waverly Street, last weekend, on Saturday, July 11th. Witnesses placed the time of the crash at about 3 a.m. near the Midlothian Country Club.
The occurrence affected the utility poles in the area and led to a power outage for several hours. Residents placed a ghost bike at the crash site in memoriam of Tucker. The Midlothian Police Department has not released the facts of the event leading to the accident, and there’s no indication of an ongoing investigation.
Motor vehicle crashes are one of the leading causes of death in Illinois and the United States. Accidents happen when drivers and passengers least expect it, and sometimes, it is the fault of the motorist. Collisions resulting from impairment, speeding, distractions, recklessness, running red lights, or stop signs are examples of a driver’s negligence.
At other times, external influences like adverse road conditions, debris on the road, animal sighting, manufacturer’s defect, or an underlying medical condition cause crashes. However, a driver who drives fully aware of adverse weather predictions and fails to take the necessary precautions is negligent. He or she would be liable for the consequences of that negligence if a crash occurs.
