A woman sustained injuries in a single-vehicle crash that took place in the Pike County. The incident occurred on the morning of July 25, Saturday as per the accident reports.
According to the details shared by the Illinois State Police, the injured woman was identified as Jacqueline M. Pellinghelli, 56, of Nebo. Pellinghelli was traveling northbound on the County Highway 7 when her vehicle ran into an accident.
The accident occurred only about 2 miles from Nebo. Just when Pellinghelli was driving nearly half a mile from the 160th Avenue, she appeared to have lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle then veered away from the roadway and struck a ditch. It then overturned and came to a rest.
Jaquelin M. Pellinghelli sustained serious injuries in the accident. Once the first responders arrived on the scene of the accident, she was airlifted to a hospital nearby. As per ISP, Pellinghelli also had one other passenger in her vehicle at the time. The passenger was identified as a female from Galesburg, aged 15. The passenger sustained non-critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital via ambulance.
Preliminary investigations reveal that Pellinghelli was found negligent and that her negligence caused the crash. For this reason, she has been cited for improper lane usage. However, ISP continues to investigate the incident to better understand exactly how and why it occurred. Subsequent accident reports may carry more facts about the case and then it will be possible for ISP to pin down an exact caused that led to the crash.
