Three people died in a traffic collision involving a car and a big rig, in Las Vegas, Nevada. One of them was an 8-year-old boy, whom the Clark County Coroner’s Office named on Wednesday, August 19th, as Jh’sani Rushing-Fincher.
In an earlier accident report released on Tuesday, August 18th, the coroner’s office identified a second victim as Artajha Smith, 28. The identity of the third remains undisclosed.
The Thursday, August 13th, collision occurred on Interstate 15, near the U.S. Highway 95. Initial reports revealed that the victims were traveling in a 2110 Volvo sedan, heading north on I-15. Clark County officers said the Volvo entered the ramp linking I-15 to the northbound U.S. 95, and struck the side of a trailer.
The trailer was hauling an off-road vehicle trailing behind a pickup truck. The collision’s impact forced the truck and the Volvo over the wall on the right end of the ramp. Both vehicles landed on an electrical pole, with the Volvo trapped underneath the truck. They went ablaze immediately.
Meanwhile, an oncoming car slammed into the off-road vehicle on the northbound lanes, but nobody ended up injured. A man and his 4-year-old daughter, who were the sole occupants in the truck, escaped without injuries.
Jh’sani Rushing-Fincher and Smith suffered fatal injuries in the traffic wreck. A third victim also died in the wreck. The Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers believe the operator of the Volvo was speeding, and driving recklessly, which caused the accident.
The incident remains under investigation by the NHP, assisted by the Clark County Coroner.
