Two people lost their lives in a tragic crash that took place in South Side Chicago on Sunday, September 6. The incident also resulted in injuries to another two persons according to the accident reports. The deceased victims were identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as Alfie Jones-Denison Jr., 25, and Jazalyn Inayez-MannCalvin, 23.
According to the details shared by the Chicago police, the fatal crash occurred on the Lake Shore Drive in Douglas. Jones-Denison Jr. and Inayez-MannCalvin were traveling southbound in a red Mitsubishi sedan. There were another two passengers in the vehicle.
As the vehicle reached the 3000 block of the South Lake Shore, the driver apparently lost control. This is when the vehicle veered aside from the roadway and collided with a pole. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday and was reported at around 4:27 a.m.
Alfie Jones-Denison Jr. and Inayez-MannCalvin sustained critical injuries in the collision. Both succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Chicago police is yet to release more details surrounding the crash but it is likely that the two were the occupants of the front seats in the vehicle.
The other two passengers injured in the accident have not been named by the authorities. They have simply been identified as a 27-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man. Both were transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center. Their injuries are reported as non-life-threatening.
Chicago Police Department’s Major Accidents Unit continues to investigate the incident. Subsequent accident reports may reveal what caused the driver of the vehicle to lose control and collide with the pole.
