Dennis Ray and Christian Stewart ID’d as Queen Creek Crash Victims

Authorities have now identified the victims of a fatal accident that occurred in Queen Creek on Monday, August 31. The identification came from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office a day later on Tuesday, September 1. The victims were identified as Dennis Ray, 33, and Christian Stewart, 27.

According to the details made available by the Sheriff’s Office, the two deceased individuals were involved in a head-on collision on the Wagon Wheel Road and Hunt Highway. The unfortunate incident occurred at around 10 a.m. on Monday.

Dennis Ray was traveling on the Wagon Wheel Road at the time. His vehicle was identified as a black BMW. Stewart was traveling in the oncoming lane, riding a Chevy passenger vehicle.

Investigations conducted by the deputies show that Ray abandoned his lane for some reason and veered into the path of the oncoming traffic. It was then that his vehicle collided head-on with the Chevy that Steward was driving.

Both vehicles had no occupants in them other than their drivers at the time of the collision. The drivers of both vehicles sustained critical injuries in the high-speed collision. Both were later pronounced dead.

Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the crash. The main objective at this point is to determine what caused Ray to veer into the oncoming lane, causing the fatal accident. The usual factors, including alcohol and speeding, have not been ruled out by the deputies so far. Later accident reports from the Sheriff’s Office may ascertain exactly what caused the incident.
