The police in Tempe, on Tuesday, May 26, identified the suspected hit-and-run driver involved in a crash that happened over the weekend in Mill Avenue, Arizona. The suspect whose name is Emmanuel Chavarria Espino will need a drunk driving attorney as he faces multiple charges.
The accident happened on Sunday, May 24, at about 11:45 p.m. near Fourth Street and Mill Avenue. Police reports state that Espino hit a 21-year-old woman who was crossing the street. He was driving a gray/silver passenger car at the time of the crash.
After striking the woman, he fled the scene. Medics soon arrived and transported the woman to the hospital, where they treated her of the serious injuries she sustained. Doctors expect her to survive her wounds.
Several hours after the accident, the suspect contacted the Tempe Police and admitted to the hit-and-run. Officers arrested him and charged him with DUI, felony hit-and-run, and aggravated assault.
It is against the law to leave the scene of an accident after its occurrence. After a crash occurs, the first thing to do is to alert other motorists about it to prevent other collisions. After that, go to a safe place around the crash scene, contact the police, and wait for them to arrive.
If anyone sustains any injuries following the crash, also call emergency response services for assistance. When the police arrive, answer their questions with accurate information about the accident, and only leave the scene after they say so. If involved in a DUI, request for the services of a drunk driving attorney for representation.
