Authorities have identified the man killed in a three-vehicle wreck Thursday evening in Phoenix.
Fernando A. Hernandez, 54, died in the crash, which occurred at about 5 p.m. Thursday, according to the Phoenix Police Department. At least two other people also were injured as a result of the incident.
Police said Hernandez was a passenger in a sedan heading south on Seventh Street when the vehicle’s driver attempted to turn left onto Dunlap Avenue. As the vehicle turned, it was struck by a pickup truck, which pushed the sedan into a nearby minivan.
Emergency medical crews responded to the scene, but Hernandez was pronounced dead before he could be transported to a hospital for treatment. The drivers of the pickup and the vehicle in which Hernandez was a passenger each were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, authorities said.
Two people were in the minivan at the time of the crash. Neither was injured in the crash, Phoenix Police Department officials said.
Additional details about the crash weren’t immediately available. Police did not say whether other factors, such as speed, inattention or intoxication, are believed to have contributed to the incident.
