A Phoenix resident, who ran from the scene of an accident in Peoria, Arizona, is facing a felony charge. Frank Loomis, 54, fled on foot after he crashed his car at the intersection of 83rd Avenue and Union Hills Drive on Tuesday, March 10th.
Loomis was in the crashed vehicle with his adult son, who remains unnamed, as his passenger. Court documents showed that at about 10:45 a.m., the man ran a red light at the intersection, which resulted in the accident.
He and his son sustained injuries, but it didn’t stop Loomis from ditching his car and son. When first responders arrived at the scene, they took the injured passenger to the hospital for treatment of his wounds.
The police then commenced a search in the areas surrounding the intersection for Loomis. They found him hiding behind a restaurant at the intersection, and the police arrested the man and read him his rights.
Loomis was booked into Maricopa County 4th Avenue Jail, and he informed the officers that he fled to avoid getting arrested on a warrant because he has an ankle monitor. The man has a pretrial on Friday, March 13th, for an aggravated assault charge.
Further investigation uncovered that the Phoenix man doesn’t have a valid driver’s license, and has an outstanding misdemeanor warrant from Peoria for criminal trespassing. Loomis was charged with a felony for failing to stay at an accident involving injuries.
Loomis’ arraignment is on Monday, March 16th, at which he will take his plea and get a date for trial or sentencing depending on his plea.
