Joel Miller Identified a Pedestrian Killed in Cochise County Hit-and-Run Crash

Authorities confirmed the death of a man who fled his resident unclad and ran into the streets where a suspected hit-and-run driver struck him in Cochise County, Arizona. The accident report disclosed that the bizarre occurrence happened on Tuesday, May 12.

The incident began when residents called in a disturbance on the 3600-block of Robbs Road at about 1 a.m. According to the Cochise County Sheriff’s office, the caller reported a man who allegedly climbed into the crawl space above the bathroom without clothing, and crashed through the kitchen ceiling. The man then ran off into the desert.

Responding officers later found the man, sprawled on the side of Robbs Road, with severe injuries. Investigators believe a passing vehicle struck the man during his flight, and then drove off without notifying authorities or assisting the victim. Deputies sent for an ambulance immediately, but the injured victim succumbed to his wounds before the medical team arrived.

Authorities identified the deceased man as Joel Miller, a 46-year-old transient, whose last known address was somewhere in Willcox. Officers have no description of the car that struck Miller, or the identity of the vehicle’s operator.

The incident remains under investigation by the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office. Officers would include further findings in the updated accident reports.

Investigators implored anyone who witnessed the incident or has helpful information that could lead to the arrest of the culprit, to get in touch as soon as possible.
