Nicholas Lipari Is The Motorcyclist Who Died In Wreck Near Park Place

Tucson Police officials have identified a motorcyclist who was killed in a crash Monday afternoon.

According to officials the motorcyclist was identified as 29-year-old Nicholas Vincent Lipari. Lipari was severely injured in the two-vehicle crash and pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash happened near Park Place Mall on the afternoon of Monday Februayr 24. A Honda Civic was driving northbound on Wilmot Road and entered the left lane to turn left onto Park Place Drive.

Lipari’s motorcycle was traveling southbound on Wilmot Road and struck the passenger side of the Civic.

The driver of the car stopped immediately and remained on the scene for the investigation where a DUI officer determined the driver was not under the influence at the time of the crash. The identity of the driver of the Civic has not yet been released.

Authorities believe speed may have been a factor and witnesses said the motorcyclist was weaving through traffic at a high speed. The investigation is ongoing.

According to a social media post at the time of the accident by Officer Ray Smith, Southbound Wilmot at Broadway Blvd as well as the eastern entrance to Park Place Mall on E. Park Place Drive was shut down due to the fatal motorcycle collision.
