A woman facing murder and other charges for her role in a fatal July 30 wreck that killed another driver was arraigned last week in connection to another DUI wreck in Phoenix.

Delilah R. Castillo, 22, first was arrested in August on several charges for the July 30 crash that killed Laiquan Lemon, 20, in Glendale. She is awaiting trial on charges of second-degree murder and four counts of endangerment.

Authorities said Castillo was driving the wrong way on Loop 101 before she struck Lemon’s car head-on. Several other drivers allegedly had to swerve out of the way to avoid a collision.

Castillo was seriously injured in the July wreck. She initially was jailed on a $50,000 bond, but that total was reduced to $2,500 in October and she later was released.

Police said Castillo was involved in another crash Feb. 14. She allegedly asked the other driver to not call the police, and then attempted to flee the scene, crashing into the other driver’s vehicle a second time.

The other driver, who reportedly suffered back injuries and muscle strains, followed Castillo’s vehicle until it became disable.

Castillo was arraigned Feb. 27 on charges of endangerment, driving under the influence and driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content of .08% or more. She is being held without bond and is due back in court March 18.
