Police are investigating after a crash Friday night on Tucson’s south side left two women dead.
Tarashia Ross, 38, and Teresita Gonzales, 29, were involved in the single-vehicle crash Friday on South Country Club Road, authorities revealed this weekend. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Tucson police, the two were traveling south on South Country Club Road when they lost control of the vehicle and struck a concrete pillar under a U.S. 10 overpass. It’s unclear who was driving the vehicle at the time of the wreck.
Neither woman was wearing a seatbelt and both were ejected from the vehicle, police said. Tucson emergency responders attempted to revive them, but authorities said in a press release that both died from their injuries at the scene.
Investigators in the release said they determined alcohol and speed likely were contributing factors that led to the crash. Several empty beer bottles reportedly found in the vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation by Tucson police.
