A motorist was killed following a fatal two-vehicle collision between a Mazda Sedan and a semi truck off the Bylas community of the Graham County, Arizona.
The fatality was reported to the state’s Department of Public Safety at about 12:02 pm on Monday, March 2, which was the estimated time of the accident. Arizona’s DPS responded at the scene of the incident on the U.S. Highway 70, shortly after.
According to the officials, a Mazda sedan, heading north suddenly turned left of center at milepost 295 and ran straight into the left side of a westbound big rig.
The motorist’s reason for making the sudden turn is yet unknown, but the crash resulted in multiple injuries, leading to the death of the Mazda Sedan driver.
The deceased was identified by the state’s DPS as Loren Dale Wright, a 34-year-old resident of the Bylas community. The other motorist involved in the accident, the semi tractor trailer rig driver, was unharmed in the collision between the two vehicles.
Possible impairment on the deceased’s part was suspected as a contributing factor in the unfortunate incident, to be confirmed by the autopsy reports as part of the ongoing investigations.
The identity of the semi driver was not reported, but the chances of being charged with a felony were slim, as he maintained his lane prior to the crash, while the dead motorist was seemingly the offending party. Further investigations into the incident are ongoing.
