Yuma County Single-Vehicle Crash Claims the Life of Gabriel Garcia

A 20-year-old man lost his life in a single-vehicle crash that occurred in Yuma County, Arizona, on Monday, March 9th. The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office identified him as Gabriel Garcia.

According to the report from the sheriff’s office, the young man died from injuries sustained when he crashed his car into an APS power pole. The deceased was driving a ’97 Jeep pickup heading west on County 14th Street near Avenue 1E when the accident took place.

When the first responders got to the scene, they found Garcia unresponsive. The young man was pronounced dead, and the deputies from the sheriff’s office notified his family.

The YCSO is investigating the accident, and they have ruled out drugs or alcohol as contributing factors. The sheriff’s office has asked members of the public with helpful information to contact the station on its listed telephone number or 78-CRIME if they wish to be anonymous.

A single-vehicle crash involves only one vehicle but sometimes has multiple fatalities. The other type of accident is a multiple-vehicle crash that requires two or more cars.

In a single-vehicle crash, the liability lies with the person involved alone, except he or she can prove that other factors like a design defect in the vehicle led to the crash and not his or her negligent act.

When it’s a multiple-vehicle crash, the liability lies with the driver whose negligent act started the chain of events that caused the accident. The negligent driver would then be liable to pay compensation to the other victims for injury and loss suffered.
