Street Racing Causes Multi-Vehicle Crash, Killing 3 Innocent Bystanders

Late Saturday evening, the 5 Freeway in Commerce was shut down following a deadly multi-car crash, caused by a street race happening on the open highway.

Dealio Lockhart, 35, of Whittier was in the southbound lane racing his Dodge Challenger against a Charger driven by another unnamed suspect, when one car attempted to move around a slower vehicle. The driver then slammed into a UPS big rig at such a high rate of speed, that the big rig entered the opposite lane, shearing off the top of a Nissan with four occupants.

The driver of the UPS truck, Scott Treadway of Mira Loma was killed almost instantly. The driver and passenger of the Nissan were both killed, and the rear passengers were left in critical condition. 19 year old Michelle Littlefield was among the passengers killed in the Nissan, that was returning from a family trip to Disneyland. Littlefield was a student at College of the Canyons, soon to transfer to Cal Poly Pomona.

Lockhart was arrested at the scene, while the driver of the Charger fled the scene and remains at large.
