The life of a male resident of Irwindale, 18 miles from Los Angeles, California, ended after he crashed his car on Wednesday, February 26th. Authorities identified him as 23-year-old Juan Carlos Recendez, of Baldwin Park.
Recendez was killed in a traffic collision that occurred at about 2:10 a.m. on the north San Gabriel River (605) Freeway near Lower Azusa Road. The deceased was driving a 2016 Mazda 6 when the accident occurred.
He slammed the car into the rear of a big rig truck for reasons authorities haven’t uncovered. The impact of the collision made the Mazda overturn, with Recendez suffering significant injuries.
The Mazda driver died from his injuries before first responders could make it to the scene. The driver of the big rig was unhurt and had no liability in the accident.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating what made Recendez crash his car against the big rig. They have asked anyone with relevant and helpful information to contact their Irwindale office.
