Six people were injured in Long Beach today after a fiery five car collision that closed the eastbound section of the Artesia Freeway (91). At least one individual was critically injured and taken to an area hospital for medical treatment after the wreck. The auto accident occurred between Cherry Avenue and Paramount Boulevard., around 4:50 a.m. and involved several automobiles.
One of the cars caught on fire shortly after impact and Long Beach firefighters were sent to the scene to extinguish the flames. Firemen also had to rescue a couple of individuals who were trapped in their cars. Paramedics arrived on the scene and treated most of the injuries on site—one person was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
While the cause of the crash is unknown, the outcome is unmistakable—people were injured and one of them rather seriously.
