Folesha Parker-Iverson, 52, was killed in an accident last Saturday while driving an Uber in South Los Angeles.
The accident occurred at around 3:36 p.m., when Parker-Iverson’s car, a black Honda Accord, was traveling east on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard with one passenger. Her car collided with a silver Infiniti traveling north on Arlington Avenue.
Parker-Iverson was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, an unidentified female, was trapped in the car until she could be rescued by paramedics. She was hospitalized with critical injuries, but is expected to survive.
The driver of the Infiniti and at least one passenger fled the scene on foot, but were taken into custody later that Saturday. The driver faces felony hit-and-run charges. Surveillance footage appears to show the Infiniti running a red light immediately prior to the accident. However, the investigation is still ongoing.
Following the accident, the streets were closed for several hours as authorities removed the wreckage of the two cars.
Parker-Iverson was a widowed mother working multiple jobs to support her children.
