Four cars collided on southbound Interstate 15 near Mira Mesa Boulevard in San Diego on Friday.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m., when four cars collided: a Tacoma truck, a van, and two cars, one of which was a Geo Prizm.
The driver of the Prizm was killed in the accident.
The accident is still under investigation, but it appears to have been caused when one vehicle, which was traveling faster than was safe given the conditions, lost control and hydroplaned on a freeway made wet by recent rain storms.
Following the collision, all lanes of Interstate 15 southbound near Mira Mesa were closed, and traffic was back up for a long ways.
