On Wednesday morning a father and his two young children were injured when a Mazda truck veered through a center median and collided with their Ford pick up truck head-on in Poway.
The accident happened near the intersection of Twin Peaks and Community Roads around 9 a.m., and authorities kept a section of Twin Peaks Road closed into the afternoon following the accident.
The 22-year-old driver of the Mazda truck and his 19-year-old passenger were taken to Palomar Medical Center in critical condition. “There was no evidence of braking on the part of the Mazda driver before the collision,” Sgt. David Cheever said. Cheever also said that the driver is believed to have been intoxicated at the time of the crash, and investigators found drugs and narcotics paraphernalia in the pickup.
The family in the Ford, — a 48-year-old Poway man, his 5-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter — were taken to an emergency room for treatment of minor injuries
