Emmanuelle Delavoye, 43, was killed last Thursday, when a tree fell and hit her car.
The accident occurred in the evening, on California Route 89 between Truckee and Squaw Valley, in an area of slow-moving traffic. Delavoye, a resident of Tahoe City, was driving a 2000 Subaru.
In addition to Delavoye’s car, the tree hit another car, a 2017 Cadillac Escalade driven by Patrick McNamara, 26. Fortunately, McNamara and his passengers were uninjured.
A third motorist, who was driving a Tesla, also had his vehicle damaged by a second falling tree when he stopped to help Delavoye. He and his passengers were also uninjured.
Following the incident, California 89 was closed until about 8:45 p.m. Conditions on the road were dangerous at the time of the accident; authorities say that bad weather conditions led to several more tree falls in the area, and traffic was moving slowly because of downed power lines.
