Suspect Arrested After Killing Army Vet Victor Gallegos In Hit-And-Run

Following the death of 58 year old Victor Gallegos in a hit-and-run accident on Saturday, the suspect has turned himself in.

Gallegos, an Army veteran, was struck at the intersection of Pickering Avenue and Hadley Street in Whittier, at around 9 pm. The suspect fled the scene in his white Toyota pickup truck, leaving Gallegos in the intersection. He later died of his injuries.

Following the accident, police named 30 year old Randy Marquez as a person of interest, based on the description of his truck. Authorities located the truck in Hacienda Heights on Sunday, however it was unattended.

Marquez turned himself into authorities Wednesday morning at the Glendora Police Department, and was transferred to Whittier Police, where he was booked on charges of felony hit-and-run. If convicted, Marquez could face a fine of up to $10,000 and up to three years in a state prison.
