A collision that occurred in Bakersfield on Tuesday, May 19, left a man, William Dominguez, injured. Accident reports from the California Highway Patrol revealed that the crash happened at about 1:38 PM at Highway 184 at Fuller Drive.

The details of the collision are still unclear, though reports state that a van collided with a motorcycle. William Dominguez sustained critical injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital where he received treatment on his wounds.

The accident caused a blockage of the northbound lanes of the highway. Authorities did not provide any further information about the crash. Investigations remain ongoing.

Traveling on a motorbike poses more risk of death or injury than driving the same distance in a car. Previous statistics show that motorcyclists in the US were 35 times more prone to a fatal crash than car drivers.

These statistics show that motorcycle riders must be safety conscious when riding their bikes. One of the safety measures that they have to take is to use motorcycle gear like helmets and knee guards.

These gear help to protect riders when accidents occur and help them to avoid incurring severe injuries and death. Statistics show that the use of helmets reduces a motorcyclist’s risk of death by 37%.

Accident reports also show that well-protected riders suffer fewer injuries after a crash compared to unprotected motorcyclists.

Hence, bike riders must be safety conscious, ride safely and at moderate speed, and wear protective gear when traveling. These measures go a long way in reducing the rate of motorcycle accidents, injuries, and fatalities.
