Antoinette Dorego Identified as Second Victim of Fatal Phoenix Collision

The Phoenix Police Department revealed on Wednesday, July 22nd, the name of the second fatal victim of the collision in northwest Phoenix, Arizona. The updated accident report named Antoinette M. Dorego, 66, as the woman who passed away.

An earlier report by the police disclosed that the victim was one of the people struck by a vehicle at a bus stop at 35th Avenue and Dunlap Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, July 21st. Medics rushed Dorego to a hospital after the occurrence, but she later passed away while undergoing treatment.

The PPD said that an 80-year-old male died at the crash scene, but they are withholding his name until they notify his relatives. Another unidentified male at the bus stop suffered minor injuries and received treatment in a hospital. Witnesses told the investigators that the collision happened after an unnamed female driver lost control of her vehicle.

It appeared that the motorist was trying to avoid hitting a vehicle that turned into the lane but ended up slamming into the bus stop at approximately 12:30 p.m. The police said the drivers of the two cars remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. They noted that impairment is not a factor in the occurrence.

Sgt. Mercedes Fortune of the Phoenix Police said that they are still investigating, and once the reconstruction of the collision is complete, they will decide if they should file charges. There is no additional information.
