Williamson County, IL – A man is recovering in the hospital after sustaining major injuries in an accident on i-57 in Williamson County, Illinois.
The two-vehicle collision occurred Sunday morning, Nov. 20, at mile marker 55.
According to reports the injured victim is Mark King of Houston, Mississippi. Mr. King was driving a Chevy Blazer that was run into by a 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by 33-year-old Jerry Ingram of Oakland, TN.
The Freightliner was following the Blazer when the two vehicles made contact. The force of the impact caused the Blazer to leave the roadway, enter the median and flip over. Mr. King was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with “major injuries.”
The extent of injuries sustained by Mr. King was such that medical personnel had him transferred via helicopter to a regional hospital that was better equipped to treat him.
Ingram, the truck driver also uninjured in the accident. The extent of those injuries is unknown. John King, a passenger in Mark King’s vehicle was not injured in the accident.
At this time, no charges have been filed against either driver. Authorities continue to investigate this matter.
