A Kane County woman faces multiple charges, including child endangerment, for allegedly crashing her vehicle Sunday night in Aurora while transporting two children.
Alexis Mata, 21, of Aurora, was arrested on four counts of aggravated driving under the influence as well as charges of child endangerment and driving with a suspended license for her role in the wreck, according to a press release from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Investigators said Mata was driving on Hankes Avenue in Aurora at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday when she struck another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle was not publicly identified by authorities and no injuries were reported as a result of the wreck.
Authorities arrived on scene to investigate and found two children in Mata’s vehicle, officials said.
“When interviewed by Aurora police, Mata allegedly showed signs of alcoholic impairment,” officials from the state’s attorney’s office wrote in the press release. “Mata’s driver’s license was suspended and her vehicle was not injured.”
Mata made an initial appearance Tuesday in Kane County bond court. She was release on a promise to appear for a follow-up hearing on May 21.
The release did not say whether Mata had retained the services of a drunk driving attorney.
