A 25-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a fatal collision that happened in the Romeoville area of Illinois on Tuesday, June 23rd. The Will County Coroner’s Office in a press release revealed the name of the victim as James Keller, of Lisle.
The coroner said that the victim was pronounced dead at 2:25 p.m. at AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center Emergency Room in Joliet. According to the Romeoville Police Department Deputy Chief Brant Hromodadka, they arrived at the crash site on 451 S. Weber Road at about 1:48 p.m.
The accident report disclosed that Keller’s Suzuki Sport motorcycle was traveling north on the access road behind Murphy Express Service Station. At the same time, a 64-year-old woman driving a Buick was traveling east on the access drive from Weber, and she collided with the victim at the intersection.
The driver and her passenger did not sustain any injury from the accident. The RPD Traffic Unit is heading the investigation into the collision, and they have not charged the female motorist with any offense. The coroner scheduled an autopsy for Wednesday, June 24th, and will release the result later. There will also be a toxicology test.
Auto-motorcycle collisions are one of the causes of crash-related deaths, and the motorcyclist is mostly the fatal victim. State and federal traffic agencies advise riders to protect themselves when riding with a US Department of Transportation certified helmet and protective apparels. Additionally, motorcyclists should avoid speeding and take turns slowly.
