Jaime Cardenas Jr. Killed in Fall From Train Platform

A man was killed after he sustained critical injuries following a fall. The incident took place on Sunday, March 15. According to the details shared by the Chicago Police, the unfortunate accident happened at a train station located at Lincoln Square on the North Side.

The man, who has been identified as Jaime Cardenas Jr. was found under the Western Brown Line platform. Authorities were notified about the unresponsive body of Cardenas at around 2:50 a.m. on Sunday. Once the authorities reached the site in the 4600 block of the North Western Avenue, they couldn’t revive Cardenas. The victim was then transported to the Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Cook County Medical Examiner also responded to the incident alongside Chicago Police. Details of autopsy were shared by the medical examiner’s office on Monday morning. According to these details, Cardenas had died due to a number of injuries he had apparently sustained in a fall from the CTA train station. Most of the injuries were attributed by the autopsy report to a ‘fall from height.’

According to the police, Cardenas likely fell from the platform. Based on the autopsy report, his death has been determined as ‘accidental.’ However, other factors may have contributed to the death, such as a medical condition or foul play. It is not clear if the police are continuing to investigate the incident. If investigations are ongoing, a more definite cause will be known once the police conclude the investigations.
