A church service is being held for a teenager who lost his life late last week in a skateboarding accident. The church service is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, March 25. The service will be streamed live from the parking lot of a church.
The teen Elijah ‘Eli’ Bolinger sustained critical injuries in an accident that took place on March 19. He was skateboarding when he was injured, with the first responders describing his injuries as traumatic and life-threatening.
The incident was reported at about 2:30 p.m. The Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department and deputies with the Porter County Sheriff’s department were among the first to respond. According to the details shared by the fire department, bystanders at the Eagle Ridge Drive and Falcon Way reported the incident. The witnesses saw the teen lying down on the roadway for some time. It was then that they alerted the authorities about it.
Once the deputies and fire department personnel arrived on the scene, they found Bolinger lying on the ground. The police attempted to conduct CPR on the boy before EMS arrived and rushed the boy to a nearby hospital.
The incident still remains under investigation. Although it is likely that the fatal injuries were caused by a skateboarding incident, authorities are trying to ascertain the cause of accident.
The church service to honor his memory is being held at the Real Life Community Church at Swanson Road, Portage. Given the COVID-19 situation, mourners can partake in the service through live streaming after parking in the church’s parking lot.
